When he wasn't wooing ladies on the Staten Island Ferry our former Mayor Bloomberg could be found grabbing grub at UES diner Viand. Sadly for Mike, it looks like he'll no longer be able to score "soft-boiled egg and well-done toast " at the diner, which will be closing its doors after Saturday service, according to the Daily News.
"We're closing because business is not too good at the moment," explained Maria Despotis-Kadas, the owner's daughter. The diner, located on Madison Avenue between 78th and 79th Streets, was a favorite of the mayor's for power breakfasts and practicing his Spanish with the staff. The diner leaves behind a sister outpost on the West Side and memories of El Bloombito.
