When we were little our favorite part of Easter was the egg hunt (which we did elaborately with pun-filled clues and everything) but that all changed five years ago when the the Washington Post started its awesome annual Peeps diorama contest, Peeps Show. Today they put up the best 35 submissions for 2011 and they generally do not disappoint.

This year there are lots of movie references (we were particularly fond of the Exit Through The Gift Shop, E.T., and Spinal Tap dioramas), along with some jabs at the TSA, that troubled DC escalator, and, of course, Angry Birds. We're not sure we agree with their first choice, a two-part recreation of the Chilean miners rescue—maybe we've just spent too much time contemplating Spider-Man: And The Chocolate Factory Turn Off The Dark?

Anyway, DC may have their Peeps dioramas but we've still got that Peeps-mobile, right? Ugh, now we want to go and stuff our faces with Peeps—shame about all that sugar.
