Well, maybe. The two Food Network veterans (he of Throwdown and married-to-an-SVU star fame; she of Everyday Italian and sexy-sauce-photoshoot fame) are apparently in talks to star in a Regis and Kelly-style daily talk show. Can you stomach it?
Flay and DeLaurentiis apparently have the same agent, and though he wouldn't confirm it, TV sources say the show is being pitched to networks as "a new-generation Live! With Regis and Kelly, where the stars are more than big personalities but also established experts at something else—food." The show would likely be shot in New York, where Flay oversees several restaurants. The goal is to get the duo out of Food Network's niche market and into the mainstream, which is apparently not saturated enough with talking heads. It's not the first time they've been on camera together—check out this clip of the two battling each other on an old episode of Iron Chef America.
The Post also notes that the show "signals a feeling within the TV business that, with Regis gone, viewers may not want to tune in to Kelly Ripa—even with a new co-host, once one is selected." Or they can stop watching the morning dreck altogether and just start popping episodes of Downton Abbey in the AM instead.
