Snow's on its way, cold is here to stay, the Patriots are in the Super Bowl, and everyone has the measles. Happy February! Thankfully, there are still a few food events that'll help you cut through the subfreezing pits of misery. Here's where to eat this week:
On Monday, All'onda in the East Village will kick off its new guest chef dinner series, hosting Pearl & Ash chef Richard Kuo for a barbecue-style dinner. Dishes include pulled pork shoulder, head cheese, smoked pork loin and St. Louis ribs, and there will be beer, spicy vinegar rinks, and coffee-infused bourbon available for additional purchase. Tickets cost $65-a-pop, and you can reserve a seating time online.
On Monday, Tuesday, AND Wednesday, the Kimchi Smoke pop-up we so loved last month will once again serve up its delectable "Southern" Korean BBQ at the Old Bowery Station in Nolita. The pop-up will kick off with a new, mysterious menu item called "The Cho-Nut," along with Bad as Texas Brisket, Cholander Fries, and Big as Godzilla Kalbi; on Tuesday, they'll unveil their Smoked Ramen Fried Chicken, along with Smoked Kimchi Ramen and Memphis Dry Rub St. Louis Ribs; and on Wednesday we're getting Smoked Gamja Tang (Spicy Pork Neck and Potato Stew), Smoked Kalbi Jim (Braised Short Ribs), and LA Kalbi. The pop-up will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
And last but not least, on Friday food enthusiasts are encouraged to attend Bitten, a food conference at the Scholastic Auditorium in SoHo. Culinary heavyweights like Eric Demby of Smorgasburg, Chia Company founder John Foss, and Blue Marble cofounder Alexis Miesen will be on hand to discuss food trends, tasts, startups and innovations. The conference runs from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $200 to attend, though group tickets (for groups of 3 or more) cost $160 each—you can purchase them online.
