An H&H Bagels has opened on the Upper West Side, but it is not THE H&H Bagels, so don't for one second think that there's a glimmer of bagel-shaped hope in this Darkest Timeline.

Much like the sham that is our democracy, this false idol is only vaguely related to the OG H&H Bagels that shuttered in 2011 and was beloved by President Obama. The shop is actually an outpost of H&H Midtown Bagels East, which, confusingly, is located on 2nd Ave between 80th and 81st Streets—that store was once owned by Helmer Toro, the proprietor of the dearly departed UWS shop and its 46th Street wholesale bakery, but has since been taken over by different ownership.

Anyway, this new H&H Bagels Midtown East is even more confusingly located at 526 Columbus Avenue at 86th Street, which is not Midtown East, but no matter. According to a press release, the Upper East Side location of H&H Bagels Midtown East will now serve as the company's catering/shipping/wholesale/retail center, and the UWS location will boast a dining area, bagels, and an array of spreads. Note that the actual, dearly departed H&H Bagels did not put the toppings on for you, and you'd have to purchase a whole tub of Philadelphia cream cheese if you weren't man enough to eat your bagel dry.

The good news is, according to Yelp reviews, this fake H&H is quite good, even if its name is a lie.
