The folks behind Softwalks have until January 11th to reach their funding goal on Kickstarter. Their project aims to transform our city's sidewalks into more functional public places, with the addition of chairs, planters, counters, lights, and screens, which will be attached to sidewalk sheds.
According to FastCo, "They’re aiming to raise enough funds to launch a short-term pilot project, lasting anywhere from four days to three weeks, in order to refine particulars and ideally lead to a truly marketable kit—taking into account, of course, feedback they’ll undoubtedly get from this extended setup."
They need to raise $13,500 to bring the idea offline for their pilot project, which they hope to launch this Spring. And to get there, they're offering up some pretty sweet rewards to those who pitch in some bigger bucks, including a planter or a Softwalk seat. [via Curbed]
