In case you've Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'd yourself, here's a dire reminder for all non-punkadelic fans to avoid Central Park tomorrow: the Black Eyed Peas are playing a free concert in the park in the evening, bringing along Taylor Swift for a benefit to fight poverty ("Concert 4 NYC"). And even though Will.I.Am may only show up in holographic form, the show has already wrecked havoc upon the MTA!
The free ticketed concert, taking place on the Great Lawn starting at 6:30 p.m. (gates will open at 3 p.m.), has planned for approximately 60,000 people to show up. In addition to Black Eyed Peas and taylor Swift, the charity show will also include appearances by a strange group including Carole King, MC Hammer, LL Cool J, Natasha Bedingfield, Debbie Harry and Whoopi Goldberg.
Following the event, MTA will extend southbound B train service until 11:22 p.m. Southbound D trains will be rerouted on the local track in order to serve stations along Central Park West between 10:26 and 11:26 p.m. According to MTA, customers heading to Penn Station, Port Authority or PATH are urged to use the B and D service at 86th Street, 81st Street and 72nd Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle and transfer to the 1 or to 7th Avenue and transfer to the E. In addition, MTA Transit buses M1, M3, M4, M10 M66, M72 and M79, may be affected by post-concert crowds.
So you've been warned. If you do go to the show, don't forget to pickup some water to keep your humps hydrated. And if you happen to be Fergie, maybe consider bringing along a few extra pair of pants. Oh also, can someone please ask them to lay off the Jewish re-appropriations?
