David Cronenberg's upcoming film Cosmopolis—based on the book by Don DeLillo, one of the greatest writers of the 20th century— concerns a 28-year-old multi-billionaire asset manager who makes a Joycean odyssey across midtown Manhattan in a stretch limo in order to get a haircut. The trailer for the film, which you can see below, feature imaginary dinosaurs in Times Square, eye-stabbing, gun play, and a fair bit of strange sexing—in other words, diehard Twilight fans are going to be more than a bit confused (and shocked) by Rob Pattinson's next movie.

With plenty of semi-nude Pattinson, at least the film is bound to generate more box office than it would normally. When we spoke to Cronenberg last year about his previous film, A Dangerous Method, he talked briefly about the differences between the projects ("they both are very dialogue heavy but other than that, they're a whole different ballgame"), and how important Twilight was to getting this film made:

But about Rob Pattinson, yeah, of course, if it weren't for Twilight I don't think we could have financed the movie around him because he wouldn't be known...I felt really lucky to have Rob, he's fantastic, and I think people will see that it's obvious. I don't think it's going to be a surprise.
