Do you know about Tony the pigeon? Despite having the ability to fly, this guy chooses to commute every day by NY Waterways. Laughing Squid recently revisited his story, noting that for over three years the pigeon has been riding the ferry from Manhattan to Weehawken every day. He's even got his own Facebook page.
Tony has also made it into the Daily News, who previously noted that Tony boards the Thomas Jefferson each day at Pier 79 on West 39th Street, during rush hour, and "travels back and forth on the boat to New Jersey, exiting briefly at each dock to search for food, before disembarking after two hours without fail back in Manhattan." He returns for the evening commute, following a similar two hour routine. And being a pigeon, he's commuted for free all this time!
