Kids these days. They just don't understand. Back when we were young, we had to walk uphill, barefoot, in the snow, both ways, to get to and from school. And the only thing we had to comfort us on those long, dark days was the sweet sound of the Fab Four, The Beatles. But today, it seems, Macca's honeyed voice is but a distant memory, at least according to this video from the folks behind "I Hate Young People," who polled our nation's youth on the street. What did they discover?
Apart from the kids who confidently assured us that both John Legend and George Michael were members of the band, none of the teenagers could name a Beatles song, album or band member. "There were five of them, right?" asks one girl. "They old rappers?" asks another. Sigh.
Oh, youth. At least Chuck Klosterman understands: "I was initially confused by EMI’s decision to release remastered versions of all 13 albums by the Liverpool pop group Beatles, a 1960s band so obscure that their music is not even available on iTunes. The entire proposition seems like a boondoggle. I mean, who is interested in old music?" [via Stereogum]
