For decades 190 Bowery has been a mysterious beast, a nod to the old days looming over Bowery and adorned in graffiti. Photographer Jay Maisel and his family have been living there since the 1960s, when he purchased the 72-room building for $120,000. Earlier this year it went on the market, and it just sold for $55 million.

Despite artists like Roy Lichtenstein having studio space there over the years, not many have been inside, and the limestone tower has looked like a haunted house, or at least abandoned. But now we can all get a glimpse at what it looks like, before it becomes condos or whatever, thanks to Digital Destinations, who put the below video together. New owner Aby Rosen says it's currently "in terrible shape," but check out all those ornate details, and the spectacular rooftop view. [via Curbed]
