If you can still see the smoldering remains of 2016 in the rearview mirror, Seth Meyers understands. The calendar may read 2017, but it's not easy letting go of the momentous year that was. But you can ease into the new year by revisiting some of the more humorous, and less outright horrific, moments of the election campaign with Meyers. There's sleepy Ben Carson jokes, Bernie Sanders talking to birds, Trump trading insults with Marco Rubio, tree-mail, awkward air kisses, mom humor, Joe Biden's undying love for Amtrak, and missing luggage.

Lest this all sounds too silly, there is also the shuddering reminder that True Detective season one catchphrases are still relevant: “2016 ended with Donald Trump telling everybody to accept the election results and get over it," Meyers said, staring into the time-is-a-flat-circle abyss. "But 2016 started with Donald Trump refusing to accept election results and not getting over it—it being his loss in the Iowa caucus."

On a more positive note, Leslie Jones was one of Meyers's guests on the special New Year's Eve show, and she talked about her cinematic ambitions.
