This week we became smitten with Karen, the "little Texan abroad" who stormed through Times Square thoroughly unimpressed with everything but the pigeons. The Tocqueville of her generation had said: "I'm afraid to talk out loud, it's kind of crappy here. I feel like an ant in an ant hill." Well, we're happy to report that there is a new video up, and she's found something about NYC she can actually appreciate: Central Park.
"This is more like the home planet. You got the jazz music going, and the big bubble blower, and the little squirrels and the dogs. And it's nice and quiet and I like this part. This is OK," she told her cameraman/husband/enabler. We believe the "home planet" comment refers to her earlier appraisal of Times Square, when she said: "I kind of feel like everyone's an alien, and we all just kind of landed here and no one knows what to do, and so you just scurry back and forth with your bags and two-wheelers and carts, and every once in a while they stop and eat a hot dog."
So we're happy our favorite Texan philosopher, historian, anthropologist, comedy enthusiast, and conspiracy theorist was able to find a smidge of happiness in NYC. We eagerly await anymore entries into her video critiques of our fair city, and barring that, hope she is able to make her way back to her home planet safely.
