The great thing about Kickstarter is that people have the opportunity to learn about and invest in any project one can imagine. The bad (or just weird) part is that means any project. For instance, Bernard Way is asking for $50,000 to create "Arc Island," a movable, floating island the size of Manhattan that would house a new civilization. It's just like LOST!

Way explains that Arc Island would be, "An expandable superstructure that allows structures to be built upon it," which would follow the summer and have the resources to supply energy and waste disposal to residents. There would also be, "No physical currency, Micro Democracy, Virtual Government and Flat rate tax." And he's already raised almost $2,000! He says, "Actually, the idea of floating islands is an old one...I believe the technology to make this feasible has become available." It is old, but we didn't realize everyone wanted to live like the Uru that badly.

The $50,000 wouldn't pay for the whole island, but would "engage the relevant architectural and engineering talent required to pull together the basic strands of the concept." We're then guessing there would be more Kickstarter campaigns to get the thing actually built. But don't be afraid to invest your savings—Way has sold islands to Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook, and by gum, it put them on the map!
