72-year-old Salim Shariff operates a watch repair business out of a closet-sized workspace in Jackson Heights, Queens. Below, Brandon Lavoie turns a camera on Shariff and his small, closet-sized shop, which he says is "$2,000 every month." Shariff adds, Every day is $71... after I eat, [after] I send my family."

That's a lot of rent, particularly when you're in the watch repair game and people aren't wearing watches anymore—"Know what's the problem, time is coming in the telephone."

Shariff moved to New York City in the 1980s, but has 47 years experience at his trade. Check out the short profile below, and consider saving this one part of NYC by strapping on a Swatch.
