Usually I'm a bit more nostalgic for '90s rock—both good and bad—but to be honest, I have a little soft spot for Styx. While my car in high school—a 1981 Plymouth Reliant K car—was adorned in Phish, Dead, Hole and NIN stickers, I would often have classic rock filling the air on the inside. Typically the classic rock was Clapton and Zeppelin-centric, but I have a very vivid memory of listening to "Come Sail Away" while meeting a friend to play tennis one day—she heard it playing from my car when I pulled in and admitted to also liking Styx and it was a huge bonding moment... though sadly wasn't enough to keep us friends forever.

So, in case you also have an affinity for BIG. MIDWESTERN. ROCK. that you can make-out to, I thought I should take this opportunity to inform you that the "Rock-N-Roll Express" is coming to the IZOD Center this Spring! Spring! Spring! The show—which is the Express's only New Jersey/New York area appearance—will feature sets from Styx, REO Speedwagon, and (sigh) Ted Nugent.

Tickets for the April 26th show go on sale this Saturday, February 16th, at 10 a.m. We can't say if they've "still got it" or not, but these bands represent a great era of studio-to-stadium rock. Press play below, and turn it up, man.
