If you do a search for "New York, NY" on Google Maps this morning, the search algorithm accurately calls up the map of our beloved dirty town, but the image accompanying the map appears to be a tad askew. Notice anything weird about the photo to the left of the map? Did our groovy mayor de Blasio secretly ship in a bunch of palm trees and a dope downtown roller coaster to surprise everyone when we woke up today? "HAPPY FRIDAY YOU GUYS!" Mayor de Blasio said in a statement.
Upon closer inspection, the truth appears to be less fun. While we are probably getting a monorailstreetcar, the photo accompanying this map depicts the fabulous Las Vegas hotel and casino "New York, New York," famous for its replica of NYC icons like the Statue of Liberty and nightly performances by... Garth Brooks. The photo is credited to Diddleking1 (that's MISTER Diddleking1 to you) and we're guessing this is some sort of gag or technical glitch that will soon be corrected with a boring a photo of One Police Plaza.
Oh well. Sure, it's going to be 70 degrees in Vegas today, and maybe their hotels might not have horrifying bedbug infestations, and they've got nightly pirate shows and Steel Panther at the House of Blues, but we've got a really cool typewriter shop and lots of integrity.
