Amongst CNN's top 12 list of places to spot spring blooming: The Bronx. The New York Botanical Garden will be opening their Orchid Show: On Broadway on March 5th (running through April 25th), which brings a Tony award-winning set designer together with the show's stars: 5,000 orchids (300 different types, at that).

For one section of the show, "visitors will travel through time beginning with Eugene O’Neill’s classic Anna Christie in 1921 to Hairspray in 2002, with stops along the way... included are portraits of Broadway legends, and even a selection of Broadway shows with a botanical connection." There will even be Broadway Cabaret in the Orchid Rotunda featuring half-hour, weekend afternoon performances by a vocalist and keyboardist belting out Broadway tunes.

According to the NYBG, designer Scott Pask and image-maker Drew Hodges will showcase the orchids in theater-inspired set pieces—something they're calling "must-see horticultural theater." A peek at the renderings, and some of the show's stars, above—we'll update when we get our hands on more images.
