Last night CBS announced that they were bringing Ted Danson on board to star in their crime drama C.S.I., taking over Laurence Fishburne's job of chief investigator of the Las Vegas Crime Scene Investigation team. CBS is also moving the show to Wednesdays for the fall, trying to keep it alive after their ratings took a dive last season, its 11th on the air. Executive producer Don McGill is optimistic, and told People, "From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect. Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

But for those worried about Danson leaving his role on HBO's Bored To Death, calm down, he's not going anywhere. George is alive and well, and as we learned during our visit to the set earlier this month, he'll be opening a restaurant next season.

Which brings us to: how many establishments has Ted Danson owned over the course of his television lives? There was Cheers, Bobo's (in Curb Your Enthusiasm), a restaurant he opened in the most recent Beastie Boys video ("Make Some Noise"), and now his restaurant (called George on Jane) on Bored To Death. As the latter show's creator, Jonathan Ames, told us: "It's just... in the zeitgeist!" Maybe he'll have time to open a little place in Vegas when he's not fighting crime, too.
