Hey, everyone - we know this is short notice, but we like to keep you on your toes: Tonight we will be having a long overdue Gothamist happy hour from 7-10pm at The Magician at 118 Rivington Street just off Essex. What's the occasion? Well, we just got paid on one of our advertisements, and we want to spend that money on you before Tien gets his hands on it and goes and blows it on pizza. So there will be $350 worth of free drinks (or more, if anyone else wants to buy a round!) and various Gothamist staff members will have the tickets. Our super-secret drinks ticket password will be "panda"- ssshhhhh! Don't tell anyone!
Expect lots of surprise guests, unprovoked and violent assaults, meglomaniacal posturing, and making out in the bathroom. And it goes without saying that if you want to throw a drink in our faces or karate-chop us in the shoulder blades, please come early - there will be a line forming at the back of the bar.
And speaking of Tien, Gothamist is pleased to announce that we've promoted Tien Mao to Editor-at-Large and Neil Epstein to Director of Technology. Tien has been instrumental in helping us make the site's content great on a day-to-day basis (as well as helping launch our great sports blog), so why not give him more responsibility, while Neil has continued to help us make sure Gothamist, our sub-blogs, and our other -ist sites keep working. Yes, these are probably more "fauxmotions" than actual promotions, but we appreciate their hard work for very little in return. Also, Thompson has been elected to the Board of Directors, but that will be celebrated near a litter box.
