If the harbingers of Spring are a Google Doodle, temperatures in the 40s, wintery weather for the foreseeable future, and these dead grey skies... then it looks like Spring is here! Also, Spring is here because, it just is—it's the Spring Equinox. It was forced here. It's not ready yet. It's holding back. There are no tulips, no fresh cut grass, no birds chirping on our windowsill, that smell of the warming air that makes you nostalgic for prom or whatever... is not here. Still smells like winter's icy breath out there. Nothing really feels different. Somewhere out there Thong Guy is still wearing pants.
That's because the Spring Equinox is not a switch that the universe flips, turning everything lush green and warm—basically it just means that the Earth’s axial tilt is like, slightly different, and the length of the night and the length of the day are roughly equal now.
But let it be a signal of hope—soon, very soon, the sun will start setting later, and the warmth will come, and we'll be bitching about the humidity.
