Stickers are back! The Stickers Stuck-Up Tour opens will get a summer preview tonight at the Big Screen Plaza, near the Eventi Hotel on the corner of 6th Avenue and 29th Street—though Streaming Museum (who developed the show) notes that the opening party won't take place until September. The plan is to have it tour throughout "the museum’s international network of screens in public spaces."
But what is it? You'll be able to view a collection of over 6,000 stickers by hundreds of artists, all from the pages of STICKERS: From Punk Rock to Contemporary Art by DB Burkeman and Monica LoCascio. From Andy Warhol’s Banana sticker circa 1966 (for the Velvet Underground—yes, the early LP edition had a peel off banana!) to Shepard Fairey's famous OBEY sticker. Check it out:
