This morning, Pat Kiernan made his second appearance as guest co-host on Live! with Kelly and it was even better than the first time! Kiernan was more comfortable next to Live! host Kelly Ripa and the face yoga segment was phenomenal — only then did the world find out that Pat Kiernan can't make a kissing fish face.

Gothamist sat down with Kiernan again after the show to ask him how things went this time. Kiernan said that in terms of nerves, it was much easier and he was able to sleep last night. "There was an ease with Kelly now so it was more fun and less trying to think about the process today." Kiernan said he spent more time thinking about conversation and less time on being armed with information. "My process at NY1 is to cull through everything and thin it down and jam as much in as possible. Once I realized that I had more than enough to talk about, there's no sense in finding 10 more items to talk about."

During the news portion of this morning's host chat, Pat and Kelly (Kelly and Pat?) talked about the White House Correspondents Dinner, the World Trade Center becoming the tallest building in New York and Friday's shuttle flyover. We also asked Pat how long it would take until he had the co-host position sealed up, "as I've said, this is fun for me as many times as it happens. I have done what I've done at NY1 for fifteen years and I would love to continue to do that. This is a great diversion that might lead to something, but either path I'm good with. I'm thrilled that I've made it this far along."

We also talked to Ripa after the show for her thoughts on Pat's co-hosting. When asked what she thought about Kiernan, Ripa said, "He's so natural and funny. I love his face. His face makes me laugh — he always looks at me like he's never heard anything that I've just said before. He's got a very funny, natural quality to him." When we asked what qualities make him a potential fit for the show, she said, "He's a morning creature, so that's good. You can't come to halfway through the show. With him being such an early riser, I feel like he's at lunchtime when he's doing our show. He's great with news items and knowing what's in the news and in the newspapers, which is a big part of our show as well. And he's just a natural conversationalist — he's very easy to talk to."

For tomorrow, Kelly says Pat "should do exactly what he's doing — be himself." When we asked how long until Kelly and Pat 'seal the deal', Ripa said "let's not get ahead of ourselves. We're not going to jump the gun — we're not going to rush into anything now."

Perhaps not, but Kiernan is back as co-host of Live! with Kelly tomorrow with Daniel Dae Kim of Hawaii Five-0 and Samantha Ronson singing her new single.
