For a limited time, you won't have to travel to Italy to see the "bodies" of people who perished when Mt. Vesuvius erupted 2,000 years ago. “Pompeii the Exhibit: Life and Death in the Shadow of Vesuvius" opened yesterday at Discovery Times Square with more than 250 artifacts, including plaster molds of bodies trapped in ash, which decayed and left perfect molds of their buried forms.

The exhibit features the writing of Pliny the Younger, who was far enough away to witness the eruption. He wrote, "Some called for their children, others for their parents or husbands. Some raised their hands to the gods, but most of them thought there were no gods at all.” Tickets are $25 for adults, and the exhibit is open seven days a week.
