Phase II of the High Line Now Open!

Let's take a walk north from 20th Street, at the end of Stage 1. This is just past the gate.

Here's a cool bird feeder / art sculpture by the talented artist Sarah Sze, around 21st Street.

This heavily wooded area is just before the lawn begins at 23rd Street.

These are the benches just south of 23rd Street.

This glorious ribbon of grass is the High Line lawn- it stretches for a few blocks north of 23rd.

The old REVS/COST piece can still be seen at 23rd Street.

Looking West over 23rd Street.

Cool benches under one of the many futuristic silver buildings which have popped up recently in West Chelsea.

This is the entrance to the "fly-over" area, where paths run above the track bed.

Looking south from the middle of the Flyover.

The Flyover contains a bunch of these bench areas.

One of the new entrance staircases.

Looking south back towards the Fly Over around 26th Street.

This frame used to belong to one of the billboards on the High Line. Now it frames a view looking East towards the housing projects.

A big bench facing the billboard overview area.

This is the beginning of the long straightaway running up to 28th Street. Some critics have complained this area seems underdeveloped compared to the stretch further south.

Another view of the straightaway.

Looking south, from the middle of the straightaway.

At the top of the Straightaway, there's this cool turn, where the line veers West. There's a huge stretch of bench here.

This is an interesting spot at 30th Street. Parts of the trackbed have been stripped away, so you can see the metal that holds up the line.

Looking down through the cutaway at 30th Street.

And here we are, at the end of Stage 2, looking North into Stage 3, which circles the West Side Railyards and ends at a stub that runs across 10th Avenue. Some day we will walk here!
