The Espresso Book Machine 2.0 at McNally Jackson is ready to serve you.

The whole machine runs off of that tiny Mac Mini you see in the bottom left. After you select your book, the file is downloaded, formatted and sent to the copier to print.

Here you can see the pages collecting after coming out of the printer.

Another view of the pages collecting.

We couldn't stop taking pictures of the pages collecting—there is something weirdly exciting about having a book printed for you.

After the pages have been printed they are lined up and the future spine is given a hot glue treatment (that's the box with the yellow triangle).

Here the spine is glued to the cover (which is printed in color in a by a different printer).

As you can see, there is some excess paper that needs to be cut off.

Snip, snip.

Probably the best part of the experience is when your finished book pops down the shoot for you to take. Its like getting a toy from one of those quarter-machines, except you can read this toy and it will cost you more than a few quarters.

Success!
