Yesterday, we at Gothamist HQ were wondering what had happened to Phoenix, those poppy, dapper French rockers who brought us hits like "Lisztomania" and "If I Ever Feel Better I'll Go To The Disco." But it looks like they're back from hanging out on buddy Johnny Depp's private island: they're in town this week to perform as the musical guest on SNL, and they played a free surprise show at the Music Hall of Williamsbug last night, mixing up fan favorites with new tracks they've been working on. They also played some new stuff, like the anthem-ey "Don't."
Check them out on SNL tonight, which'll be hosted by Melissa McCarthy and should be a fun one. Phoenix will also be back in New York in October when they play the Barclays Center.
