It's been about a month since cherry blossom trees first started flashing their sick pink hues around the city, and three weeks since a rosacea-tinted wave began to sweep through Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Cherry Walk. But all that was a mere appetizer for the incarnadine feast we now have before us: Brooklyn Botanic Garden is at peak bloom RIGHT NOW.

Want to weep tears of ruby petals? Just peruse the gorgeous photos in the gallery up above—taken by photographer Sai Mokhtari this week—capturing people frolicking among the scarlet and snowy leaves. Still don't believe me? Just look at the map below, ye Mighty, and rejoice!

While there is no annual Sakura Matsuri festival this year because of the pandemic, garden hours for socially distanced viewing have been extended past 6 p.m. to sunset from April 17th through May 9th. There are also other weekend pop-up music and dance performances to watch out for. If you're thinking of visiting, Brooklyn Botanic Garden requires advance tickets, and you better get on that quick because this weekend will likely be a very popular time to go.

Here are a few other pro tips you'll want to keep in mind if you're thinking of going: you can't put a blanket on the ground to sit on, and no food is allowed (unless it's for kids). You can only sit on the ground in the Cherry Esplanade, and you of course can't touch or shake the trees themselves.

Mokhtari noted another lesser-known rule: "You can't change outfits or even jackets at the garden," she said. "I think they do this to keep people from doing fashion shoots. Basically, it's not a park. It's a botanical museum, so act right."
