Phil Collins Day—the unofficial but annual celebration of the musician that's observed the day after Valentine's Day—really hit its peak in 2011, when a parade ran through Greenpoint. There were masks, a giant paper mache Collins head, and a marching band playing the one Phil Collins song they learned earlier that day... it seemed:

Since then, Phil Collins Day has become a more intimate affair, with smaller and less showy events. This year there will be a Phil Collins Childrens Choir performance, followed by an all kids open mic night, at Beach Church (224 Beach 97th Street in Rockaway). This all happens Saturday (February 15th) from 5:30 to 7:30.

After that, let's all meet in our Phil Collins masks and drink some very fine Chardonnay and listen to CDs?
