Swoon... still got it! (via NKOTB.com
It's not a secret that I'm a New Kids On The Block FOREVER FAN, so this morning I frantically refreshed their Twitter feed for the big news they promised to deliver this morning... which is (drumroll/high-pitched screams): they are releasing their first new album in over four years on April 2nd, and will be going on a national tour with Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees. I am experiencing some mixed emotions about all of this...
The last time they went on tour they teamed up with the Backstreet Boys, a band I knew of but never really listened to, having had outgrown my boy band phase by the time they were hitting the public eye. So Boyz II Men are a welcome replacement, because who wouldn't like to hear these sweet harmonies live?
But 98 Degrees? Was this necessary? Seriously: Donnie, Joey, Jordan, Jonathan, Danny—you are better than this!:
Hopefully the order will be orchestrated in a way that one can just come later in the show for Boyz II Men and NKOTB... but we'll cross that bridge, etc. The tour kicks off on May 31st at Mohegan Sun, following this year's NKOTB Cruise, but sadly the only NY-area shows are at Nassau Coliseum and the IZOD Center in New Jersey. Can someone start a petition for an intimate show at, say, Brooklyn Bowl or Music Hall? Certainly Williamsburg is ready for a NKOTB comeback, even if in an ironic way.
