Music fans looking forward to the second Panorama Festival have plenty to celebrate today: the fest's 2017 lineup has just been announced, and it's impressive. Nine Inch Nails, Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, and local hip-hop legends A Tribe Called Quest top the bill, with support from Alt-J, Solange, Justice, Nick Murphy (aka Chet Faker), MGMT, and Spoon. Damn!
Building off of last year's success, Panorama will once again take over Randall's Island Park from Friday July 28th through Sunday, July 30th. Three-day passes and single tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, January 13th, on Panorama's website. If you've got an American Express card, you'll have access to a special pre-sale on January 12th, starting at 10 a.m. Single day tickets will go for $99 and three-day passes for $282. Single day VIP tickets will cost $230, and 3-day VIP tickets clock in at $650 (there's no official word on the VIP amenities for Panorama 2017, but last year's perks included special sidestage viewing areas, exclusive food and drink stands, chillout couches, and more).
Lower on the bill, there are other excellent acts including Future Islands, Tyler the Creator, DJ Shadow, Isiah Rashad, MØ, Nicolas Jaar, Vince Staples, Angel Olsen, Glass Animals, and Belle & Sebastian. On top of all the great music, the HP-sponsored multi-colored interactive party/selfie/chillout zone known as "THE LAB" will again return, and a new attraction dubbed "The Point" promises an open-air club space that evokes the rich legacy of NYC's dance scene (complete with cool misting jets!).
As Panorama, Governors Ball, and maybe even The Meadows all return for another year, local music fans have nothing but great, albeit expensive, options for the 2017 festival season. If you attend, expect some very hot weather, strange scenery, delicious food, and phenomenal music. Only 200 days to go!
