Have a problem with New York City? Talk to the hand! If there's an iPhone in it, at least. A new civic-minded app called Commons has been released (it's free!), originally designed to be played at the Come Out and Play Festival. That's right, make potholes fun by earning points for reporting them! Even if the fest is no longer going on, you can still download the app to report a problem (with a photo and description) and recommend an improvement, earning points all the while. So you'll still be able to be competitive while doing good, which makes it a little better than calling 311. From the Commons website:
Report a problem or recommend an improvement in your neighborhood that you think deserves attention and resources, and show your city some lovin’. Vote on the best reports and improvements, and see what’s most popular in the hood. Go on short missions around town to earn bonus points, and unlock City awards to level up through the game. With Commons, share the things that you care most about fixing and improving in your neighborhood, and discover new ways to explore your city.
But will all that complaining actually do anything? [via NYC Digital]
