There may be no light in her latest single, but it sounds like there was a lot of it in The Bowery Hotel room that Florence + The Machine's Florence Welch recently stayed in. The British singer just admitted to starting a fire in the swank pad after a night partying with Kanye!
Welch explained to Q Magazine that after an acoustic gig here she got to drinking with Mr. West and the Swedish singer Lykke Li in her dressing room. Next thing she knew she'd ripped her dress, lost her phone, and chipped a tooth. And when she woke up in her hotel room, well,
I came back to the hotel, passed out in my ripped dress—no phone, chipped tooth—came round and there was black stuff all over the wall, my book had melted on the bedside table and there was a bucket of water on the floor. Actually the last scene you want to wake up to with a hangover. Half the room was singed.
Apparently the singer had left a cinnamon tea candle burning. The most shocking part of the story, however? It wasn't the fire that cost her the most: "My American publicist was like, 'Ah yes, there was a very big bill on my credit card.' But the fire damage was only a couple of hundred. The big bill was the bloody dressing room drinks bill. Kanye West, Lykke Li, me, the doormen, most of Lower Manhattan, whoever, drinking Dirty Martinis and what have you. (The amount is undisclosed.)"
