Well this seems unfair: MTV is allegedly trying to stop the Jersey Shore cast from cashing in on personal appearances. Well, not all of them, but the NY Post reports that the network's head honchos have warned the cast to "rein in their appearances" or face fines and legal consequences! Allegedly they are trying to "protect the brand," but none of the guidos or guidettes are abiding, even after signing their $180K contracts for a 2nd season.

A source told the paper they're only allowed two personal appearances a week, all pre-approved by producers—"but some don't care and are blatantly going ahead to earn as much cash as they possibly can." It's like they're in one of those enclosed glass rooms with money blowing everywhere and they can grab as much money as they want but they only have a limited amount of time to do it. C'mon MTV. This is their time in the magical money room! How is Snooki going to move to Fisher Island now?

Meanwhile, Pauly D is turning down easy $50K gigs because he is a "serious deejay."
