Given the massive crowds expected downtown tomorrow to celebrate the New York Giant's Super Bowl win, the MTA has issued a press release instructing fans on what subway stations to use, as well as which ones to "avoid." According to the MTA, these because of the anticipated mob scene, these stations will be bypassed starting at 10 a.m.: The Fulton Street 4/5, the Fulton Street A/C, the Wall Street 4/5, the City Hall R, and the Chambers Street-WTC (the E will discharge customers at Canal Street, A and C will bypass). Please make a note of it, and if you are insane plan to be there, here's which stations the MTA recommends using:

  • Rector Street R
  • Cortlandt Street R
  • Fulton Street 2/3
  • Wall Street 2/3
  • South Ferry 1
  • Chambers Street-Brooklyn Bridge 4/5/6 or J

The MTA says officials will also "closely monitor" conditions at the Park Place 2/3 station and the Bowling Green 4/5 station and make closures if necessary. Several local and express bus routes that serve lower Manhattan will also be rerouted due to street closures for the parade; the reroutes are expected to be in place by 9 a.m.; some detours may begin as early as 7 a.m. Bus lines impacted by the rerouting are as follows: M9, M5, M15, M20, M22, M103, BM1, BM2, BM3, BM4, BxM18, QM7, QM8, QM11, QM25, X1, X3, X4, X10, X11, X12, X15, X17A/C, X19, X27, X28, FML1. Go Giants!

There are more details about the ticker-tape parade and festivities here, but Gothamist's resident jock attended one of these things last time some team won something in 2008, and he has this piece of advice: "Don't drink too much unless you plan on peeing in your pants (or diapers if you're going to wear one). Be prepared for it to be very crowded with lots of people who like the Giants." He also says many of them will be drunk.
