Recently spotted on Metro-North, this classic defensive move so no one will sit next to you

The MTA has decided to expand their "Courtesy Counts" campaign to the commuter trains, where that bad etiquette shit gets real.

Both Metro-North and the Long Island Railroad will be plastered with over 2,000 posters listing off some do's and don'ts, according to CBS New York. Long Island Rail Road President Patrick Nowakowski declared, “When you’re spending upwards of an hour or two per day, sharing space with others, it’s important to maintain a certain level of courtesy. The simple act of keeping your feet off the seats or holding onto your belongings makes for a more comfortable trip for everyone.”

Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti echoed the sentiment, noting, "we hope they [customers] can help make the railroad run more efficiently by taking small steps to be more courteous. Letting passengers on and off trains quickly and safely is one way to trim valuable seconds from the time a train dwells in a station while keeping belongings out of aisles safely makes more room for everyone.” But that's the least of the etiquette issues you'll spot on one of these trains.

Their messages will include: “Keep the Volume to Yourself," “Groom at Home," and other Obvious Things Adult Humans Should Already Know, like Luggage Rack Luge Prohibited.
