Levine on SNL

It's a new year, which means new episodes of Saturday Night Live are on the way. NBC has announced the first two hosts of the year: Jennifer Lawrence (with the Lumineers on January 19th) and Adam Levine on January 26th.

Blah blah Hunger Games Playbook, let's focus on the Maroon 5 singer, who will join the ranks of other musicians to have taken on hosting duties over show's long history. He joins: Paul Simon, Desi Arnaz, Kris Kristofferson, The Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Johnny Cash, Olivia Newton-John, Ringo Starr, and more recently, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars... to name a few. Unlike many of those, however, Levine won't be the musical guest—that job will go to rapper Kendrick Lamar. Sadly, this means we won't be hearing "One More Night."

We asked SNL guitarist and Levine's longtime pal, Jared Scharff, about the singer's SNL gig, and he tells us, "Adam's been exactly the same since we were kids. It's been amazing to see how his career and talent have developed since we were eleven years old, playing in bands together at summer camp." Does the kid have any acting chops? Yes:
