[Update: It's been released!] It's been over 20 years since beloved shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine released their seminal album Loveless—back then, Michael Jackson was appearing incognito on the third season of The Simpsons , Nirvana's recently released Nevermind was slaying hair metal, and Justin Bieber was three years away from being born. Most people wrote off any chance of hearing another MBV album, but after years of teasing and broken promises, the band announced they are finally releasing the sure-to-be noisy followup into the world TONIGHT: "We are preparing to go live with the new album/website this evening," the band wrote on Facebook. "We will make an announcement as soon as its up."

No other information is known about the new album (except for the artwork, which you can see above), nor exactly when you'll be able to hear it (and presumably, download it). The band played a very promising new song, the humbly-titled "Rough Song," in London last week (unfortunately, that video has been made private). But we can assure you that it sounded really great!

But all those details don't matter as long as the album really does come out tonight. As Stuart Berman put it, it's especially appropriate it's happening this weekend: "A new My Bloody Valentine album tonight = the Super Bowl for shoegazers." And hell, it's not like MBV fans have anything better to do tonight than stay in and get cuddly with hot cocoa and amp-busting guitar noises.

Will this album live up to the hype with the same grace that Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy did after a similarly long gestation period? Will this album fulfill the promise of every My Bloody Valentine show of the last four years and make your ears literally bleed? Will fans joyously celebrate the release by negatively comparing the new record to their old work? Keep your eyes peeled on MBV's Facebook page and find out in a few hours!

Update: The name of the album MIGHT be "Almanach," at least according to their bandcamp page. Although, we'd recommend you take everything with a grain of salt until your ears are bleeding with joy.

Update: It's really true! The website is, obviously, overloaded right now, but the new My Bloody Valentine album, MBV, is real! We've included a screen shot below to prove it. Once you stop hyperventilating, go here, wait for the site to load, and get ready for a tremolo explosion.
