Joycians and drinking enthusiasts, prepare yourselves! The brains behind San Francisco's Litquake will be bringing their literary bar crawl to book-and-beer loving Brooklyn! Manhattan has had its own event since 2008, but this year the city's getting not one but two booze heavy fests, one of which will take crawlers to about a dozen different venues in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill. Next month, lovers of the written word can get their drink on at Lit Crawl Brooklyn, which will feature over thirty authors and offer up fourteen separate events, like literary-themed trivia, Taboo, and a cabaret.
The events will be led by borough-centric bookworm-ey groups like Brooklyn Writers Space and Electric Literature; authors include New York Press columnist Amy Sohn, short story writer Elinor Lipman, and more. Venues vary from La Casita Yarn Shop, Camp, Micro Museum, Zombie Hut, and Book Court, and participants are invited to 61 Local for a post-crawl party, assuming they aren't too sloshed to offer discourse on the merits of Jonathan Lethem.
Lit Crawl Brooklyn takes place on May 19 at 6pm; Manhattan's event will be held in September, with additional Lit Crawls in both San Francisco and Austin in October.
