The current exhibitions at Steven Kasher Gallery, featuring the works of Vivian Maier and Weegee, are both ending this Saturday at 6 p.m., and they're both worth a visit. (Though the must-see Weegee show at the International Center of Photography is running through September 2nd).

When amateur street photographer Vivian Maier died in 2009, around 120,000 negatives and 2,000 undeveloped rolls of film were discovered, going unseen for some 45 years. The shots, taken in the 1960s and 1970s, are almost exclusively from Chicago (for more on Maier and her photographs, check out Chicagoist's ongoing coverage)—click through for a peek (and see more here).

Want more Maier? Her book, in its 2nd printing, was on our Best of 2011 list, with the PowerHouse Books people telling us, "There are plenty of accolades and huzzahs surrounding the puzzling story of Vivian Maier's life. Her photos, however, tell a completely different story. Now in its 2nd printing, Vivian Maier's book shows that she took street photography on a completely different level. Highly recommended!"
