Yesterday afternoon Justin Bieber dropped by Macy's to visit with fans and sell them on his new scent, Someday, but things turned ugly once the pop star decided to divert from his plan. The Biebs took an unplanned trip outside of the Herald Square store to wave to around 500 fans who couldn't get in. (Great idea!) The NYPD had set up barricades, but the fans broke through them once they caught a glimpse of the little guy. When that happened the NYPD ordered him back inside, but one of his own security—47-year-old Moshe Benabou—either ignored the order, or got in the way. He was later cited for disorderly conduct.
The big melee, however, came when a planclothes NYPD officer jumped the barricade to help out Biebs, but since the boy wonder didn't recognize the cop, he shoved him! The Biebs's spokesman released a statement saying: "It was a momentary well-intentioned misunderstanding and the event went well. He’s completely fine and has no injuries." (He's even Tweeting again.) And a spokesman from the NYPD explained to the Hollywood Reporter, "One of his bodyguards failed to follow lawful order. [Bieber] was not even touched. The only person touched was the bodyguard." Here's some more footage from the scene, have you ever seen the NYPD move so fast?
Over on Twitter, the Bielebers aren't buying this story, and insist someone is out to get their idol. One Twote: "theres no way that guy was a cop. why would he need protecting if the attacker was a cop! U GUYS ARE MAKING NO SENSE. TMZ IS FULL OF SHIT DON'T BELIEVE IT! k thanks."
