City Center's Encores! Off-Center production of Little Shop of Horrors has its Seymour: Hollywood heartthrob Jake Gyllenhaal will play the hapless plant owner in the show. He'll be starring opposite Ellen Greene, who originated the role of Audrey in the original Off-Broadway and Broadway productions as well as film of the musical.
The rest of the cast was also announced: Tony winner Chuck Cooper is taking the role of Audrey II; Taran Killam will play Audrey's horrible dentist boyfriend, Orin Scrivello; and the Urchins, the Greek chorus/R&B girl group, is comprised ofTracy Nicole Chapman, Marva Hicks and Ramona Keller.
This will be Gyllenhaal's musical theater debut. If anyone's wondering if he can sing, here is some video evidence of... something:
