Love him or hate him, Jake Bronstein is out there, and chances are you'll run into him or one of his projects any moment now. Recently we asked the man behind the love letters, fun-o-meter and Wookie suit about his latest project: the Fun Idea Text. He also told us a little bit about just what it is he does, and why he does it.

You seem to have your hands in a lot of honey jars, what is it that you do exactly? I do a few things: 1. I run a little marketing firm, GiantMINIATURE, developing and executing alternative marketing strategy. I'll spare you the details on that, but I connect the products they've got, with the headlines they want, without spending a ton. Last year, I took one company from 10 google hits to 10,000 in just over a week and got them on Regis & Kelly, mentioned on SNL and featured on ABC Nightline News to boot.

2. With everyone's budgets shrinking, it's more important than ever to foster happy, productive, fun work environments. I help facilitate that from time to time.

3. I keep a blog about fun called Zoomdoggle. It doesn't make a dime. It's just a good time, but it seems to inadvertently power the other 2 endeavors. Plus, it's all stuff I'd be looking at, thinking about, and doing anyway.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Handsome. When that failed, I started thinking rich would be cool. Seeing as I'll probably never get there either, I'm just focusing on happy these days.

Tell us a little bit about Zoomdoggle's Fun Text idea. I made a "fun idea machine" a few months back and people seemed to really like it, so I decided to take the idea mobile. Put the number 30644 in your phone under the name Zoomdoggle. Any time you're bored, text it "NEED FUN", and it'll send you back a random, fun idea. For free! It's just that easy. Give it a go. Have a smile. And remember, it's there for you any time you need it. (Did someone say video?)

Are the ideas city-centric? Location specific is the goal. We just got that functionality on the phone system over the weekend. Text it from a 917, 347, or 212 number, and there's a chance you might get something you can only do in NYC. It might take a few shots though, there's almost 300 ideas in there and at the moment only 25 are NYC specific.

What sort of things have you texted via the service so far? Come on, it's SO easy to find out for yourself. Text it. You'll be helping me make my mom proud.

What's next on your To-Do list? You know all those Christmas trees out in the street? This morning I sawed off the end of one and planted it in a planter a few feet away. The goal is to do 20 more tonight. I'm not sure if it'll actually take root, but wouldn't that be awesome? I encourage everyone to do the same. Can you imagine how magical New York would feel...

You recently got a lot of press for your letter writing, when do you think you'll finish up all of the letters? Have more people been contacting you to receive one? Yeah, I offered to write a love letter to anyone who wanted it, by hand, and mail it off free of charge. I figured it'd be a fun way to spread some cheer. Right now, just shy of 800 people have asked for a note. I can only write 5 per hour, so I've got a bit of a ways to go on that. Feel free to sign up if you'd like one.

What has been your favorite project so far? That's a tough one. Years ago I tried to do 50 Dates in 50 States to win back an ex. The thought was I'd save the 50th for her back in NYC, but that by then I'd have learned to be the man she wanted, have met someone new, or would have found something that would help me get over her completely. This was eons ago. JetBlue kindly sponsored my airfare. You can see the first few dates at heartbreakjake.com. That was fun. And I met loads of great people. I ran through my VERY small savings faster that I thought though, so I had to drop it halfway through and go back to work.

A long time ago you were on an MTV reality show, what was that experience like? Do you still watch the network? That was 12 years ago. Before anyone I knew even had email. Really, think about that. I don't remember nearly as much of it as I'd like to. I did fall in love for the first time on air though (embarrassing), and see myself run (even more embarrassing). I still watch, but only cause I'm a culture junkie. MTV has lost its way. At best, it's trying to keep up with a youth culture it doesn't understand. It used to actually shape that culture. Nothing can stay ahead of the curve forever, but some of their recent missteps have been tragic. You should never pander to an audience you're trying to engage.

Even though your ultimate goal seems to be FUN, your name often generates a lot of hateful comments on the Internet. Do you have anything to say to the people who leave them? The odds that the haters have read this far is slim to none. On the off chance I'm wrong - and they're still trying to get the wording right for their snide comment - I guess I'd say "sometimes it's more fun being the dork dancing alone than the crowd pointing and making fun. Give it shot."

Please share your strangest "only in New York" story. Here's something that happened once, completely out of the blue. Be warned though, this is NSFW and can't be described in a PG manner. I'm pretty sure this kind of trouble only happens in the Big Apple.

Which New Yorker do you most admire? It changes day to day. Today though, it would have to be Josh Spear (joshspear.com). At just 24, he's one of the smartest guy's I know. He's also the reason I do what I do. Him and his partner Aaron Dignan convinced me that ultimately the way to wind up where you want to be, even if you're unsure of where that is, is to do your thing—whatever makes you happy—and eventually the world will come knocking. There's a reason Richard Brandson calls them for advice. I'm lucky to get the same level of guidance for free.

Given the opportunity, how would you change New York? I'd like to say that I'd drop the rents, but I just moved into my dream apartment after talking the broker into waving his fee and the landlord into lowering the monthly fee 10%. I'm psyched, for sure, but I'm not entirely sure it's a good thing for our overall outlook.

Under what circumstance have you thought about leaving New York? Any time my friend/photographer Kristian Schmidt invites me on one of his trips, or my girlfriend finds a deal on a flight somewhere. Other than that, after 12 years I can honestly say New York is starting to feel like home.

Can you please recommend a good weekend hang-out that isn't unbearably mobbed? On the weekend? Eeash, everywhere's a nightmare. My living room is pleasant. You're welcome to join. Full bar, fun toys, not too big a crowd.

Do you have a favorite New York celebrity sighting or encounter? Every time I see Philip Seymour Hoffman I'm blessed with incredibly good luck after. Apparently it's a thing. I tell my stories about it all the time (I've got 3 at this point, really, the closest I came to winning the Lottery was after seeing him at Joe's Pub), at least 1 in 5 says the same thing happened to them.

What's your current soundtrack? It's all "Put A Ring On It" all the time. Other than that, no one song gets played too often. If it doesn't make me smile and want to dance, it doesn't get played at all.

Favorite headlines: NY Post or Daily News? NY Post. Without a doubt.

Best cheap eat in the city. How cheep are we talking? $20: Joe's Shanghai. $10: Snacky. $5: Dogmatic. $2: Gray's Papaya (even their website is awesome).

Best venue to see music. Hammerstein, but only cause GNR played there.
