There is a rumor going around that upon Mad Men's return in April, the show will have jumped ahead in time six years. This seems to be based solely on the fact that the song in this teaser below—"Love Hangover" by Diana Ross—was released in 1976.

When Matthew Weiner spoke at the Paley Center in 2013, he discussed the music selection process on Mad Men, saying everyone on set has access to his iPod and music list—"it really comes down to having an emotional response to a song. I have no rules about it. They do not have to be from the period." Before the show returned last year, a teaser was released featuring David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World," which was released in 1970. That season took place in 1969.

It's possible that we'll be moving through time quickly in the short season, however, and will eventually get to 1976. All we do know for certain is that Weiner keeps the year under tight lock and key, along with almost every other detail, and wants the audience to enjoy it all as it unfolds.

Please feel free to speculate on what era sideburns Roger is rocking though—they really are somethin'.
