Earlier today, we caught wind that Bravo TV might be looking to haul over the entire cast of their longstanding (in the world of reality TV, anyway) Real Housewives of New York series, in the interest of getting "rich, rich women, dripping in glamor and $10 million penthouses," at least according to Page Six. But Househusband Simon "I Am Real" van Kempen isn't so sure.
While minor cast changes are nothing new for the series—Kelly Bensimon joined the cast in the second season, Sonja Morgan and Jenn Gilbert in the third and Cindy Barshop for the current fourth season, the network has never swapped out the entire cast before. "I would be very hesitant to put too much stock in what is written by Page Six or Gatecrasher" said van Kempen. "In February 2010 Gatecrasher wrote (and this was prior to the third season airing) that Alex and I weren't being asked back for the fourth season, and we all know how accurate that was! Pretty much every other franchise has seen changes to its cast forced by the producers each season, and to date New York has been the exception."
The network had no comment, except to say that they're always casting for new housewives in every city. Hear that, Staten Island? They're coming for you next! Oh, wait, that already happened.
