A few times a year the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Sale sets up shop inside of the Metropolitan Pavilion, and allows people from the Present Day to travel back to a time when clothing was, somehow, better. The show brings the best vintage vendors together to sell and show their wares, and we dropped by this weekend to check it out.

David Ornstein and his wife Maureen, of Daybreak Vintage Rentals, started the whole thing over a decade ago, and still run it with their sons. The family, through their rental company, also supply era-appropriate clothing to TV shows and movies (including Catch Me If You Can, Boardwalk Empire, Factory Girl, Mad Men, and the upcoming Vinyl). Every show is given a theme by David, and this year the special focus was on David Bowie, and Fargo (through a special collection sold online).

The show features one of the greatest collections of vintage clothing and antique textiles, from the 18th to 20th centuries. You'll get everything from vintage Dior bangles to Bob Mackie dresses designed for Mitzi Gaynor's variety show. While this one is all packed up, they'll be back April 8th and 9th (and again in October)—until then, click through for a look at some of the more enviable items.
