Since organizers of the Idiotarod this year, Corporation X, were being vague with any details prior to go time, but simultaneously wanted press coverage—our publisher sent them this little note (yes, in all caps): "WE CAN'T COVER YOUR STUPID HIPSTER RACE ON THE SITE IF WE DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS."
So it's unsurprising that the mysterious organizers weren't chomping at the bit to give us details once the race was over. In fact, they told us they would let us know who won after brunch the next day. Which they did, and it turns out one of our favorite carts, PeeWee's Playcart, won Best Film/TV Reference and got honorable mention in the Best Cart category. So you can only imagine how excited we were to find out that THE CHAIRY is now up for grabs in Greenpoint.
We would ask Corporation X if they had plans to pick it up for posterity (or just to clean up after themselves), but their last communication to us stated: "From this point forward, the top management and the Board of Trustees of Corporation X are going on vacation to our private island. We will be available for comment only when counting our money ceases to entertain us."
