You can tell a lot about a year by seeing which posts were popular, and from Gothamist's standpoint, it's been a banner year for our readers who are perverts or nerds (we're hoping the loyal readers are both). Here are a few of our most popular posts: Thoughts on the Matrix Reloaded; 100 Best Songs; when we pretended to know all about friendster messages; Paris Hilton sex tapes and her SNL appearance; Nicole Richie's racial identity; What not to do when you blog; Jelly Kelly; Best Movie Sex Scenes; Michael Jackson's mugshot; Nudist camps for teenagers; Blackout Edition; Lever House Restaurant; Metrosexuals; Hating Lauren Weisberger (related, Weisberger on her boss Anna Wintour ), Jayson Blair, Blair Hornstine; Larry Wachowski's possible sex change; anything on teenaged stars, speficially Hilary Duff (related, her nutty fans); the New York City Blackout Edition; and our Events page, brought to life by editor Mindy and intern Willa.

Angel Project at the Chrysler Building

We have our favorites of the past year in posts on Gothamist. They usually have something to do with: Pandas, like their mating; wandering the city, like during the Angel Project or in Colossus of New York, or involving food (trips to the Olive Garden, Old Homestead, Mermaid Inn, 8 Mile Creek) or eating AND stalking Jeffrey Steingarten) or meeting new people who pour love into the food they make, like at foodie or BBQ at Daisy May's; sometimes it's about watching our TV heroes in person (an Evening of Law & Order or an afternoon of Tom Fontana) or it's watching Hollyood congratulate itself on TV; it's about laughing (anything Will Ferrell or some stand up from Tinkle). Or there's musing about dating dealbreakers or Lost in Translation, seeing Diddy run, hear Bubb Rubb woo woo, know that Ming the Tiger lived in an apartment, debated Renee's weight, and watched Mayor B's moves.

By far, the best thing has been hearing from (via email) and meeting (via our stalking or luck or our Happy Hours with the amazing Aaron) new people. We hope we get to do it all over again and more in 2004.
