The BKLYN Yard may have shut down operations after their landlord wanted them out, but it seems one party that was being hosted there will be allowed to continue. According to the NY Times, Justin Carter's weekly Sunday Best deejay event will go on, with permission from the landlord, at the space which is now being called 400 Carroll Street.
Carter told the paper, “We’ve worked it out so we’re going to be able to have a shot at it. The response that got poured out when people saw the space was shut down was really intense, and we think that people really want to see something happen here.” He also noted that it will cost more money to throw the party, and it's "not a sure bet."
Some new rules will be in place, which perhaps the Yard folk weren't willing to bend to, including this buzzkill: no alcohol! Liquor will not be permitted anywhere on the property, but Carter says they're trying to sort out a license so they can serve it at some point during their projected 13-week run there.
As for the Yard organizers, we've contacted them for a comment on this latest news and will update if we hear back; last week they told us: "we are already scheming bigger and better things... lemons to lemonade!"
