The Jason Segel-scripted Muppets movie is headed to the big screen, due out this fall, and the first poster has now popped up. What does it tell us? Cinema Blend notes, "Here’s what you should notice. Feet. The Muppets have feet. One thing about Muppets, you can’t really show their feet very often, because if you do you’ll see the Muppeteer... So as a Muppet fan what this poster tells me is that, maybe, showing Muppet feet isn’t going to be such a special thing anymore. I suppose it’s about time Muppet technology took a step forward, and if there’s a next step it probably involves far more Muppet wide shots than we’re used to."
Apparently Muppet feet is a thing (even though we've already seen them). Movieline calls the appearance of their feet on the poster "chillingly creepy," saying, "there are a few unassailable essential guidelines to film: the villain is always bad, the girl is always pretty, and you should never EVER see the Muppets’ feet when they walk." Personally, we're more disturbed by how thin Animal's legs are.
Back in 2008, Segel said, "I actually just turned in my first draft of the Muppets and I'm really excited about it. I think we're bringing them back. Hopefully it will fall right in the pantheon of The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppet Movie, you know, we're trying to make one of those." He's also promised to stick to the traditional, CGI-free puppetry.
